With over a decade of experience in coaching soccer, Johanna has dedicated her career to nurturing young athletes and instilling a passion for the beautiful game. Starting in 2007 with the Houston Dynamo youth and later transitioning to the FC Dallas youth in 2011, she has had the privilege of working with players of all ages, ranging from 2 to 18 years old.
Johanna’s own journey as a soccer player was shaped by the incredible coaches she had the fortune to learn from. Their influence inspired her to create a positive and fun environment for her young players while also challenging them to reach their full potential. Understanding that the Junior Academy program is often the first exposure many kids have to soccer, Johanna and her team tailor each session with the child’s best interest in mind. Their goal is to equip young players with the necessary skills and knowledge so they enter team play with confidence and a solid understanding of the rules.
Alongside her extensive coaching experience, Johanna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is certified by the United States Soccer Federation with a C license. She also actively contributes to the development of young players through her involvement in the Olympic Development Program for North Texas youth coaching, specializing in U11 and up. Additionally, she serves as a Video Assistant Referee for Major League Soccer matches.
Johanna’s coaching philosophy is based on three core principles: empower, encourage, and excite. By following these principles, she aims to provide an age-specific curriculum that challenges players to master new soccer skills while building their confidence and creating a sense of accomplishment. Positive reinforcement is a key element of her coaching approach, fostering a supportive and uplifting environment. Above all, she believes that soccer should be a fun sport to play with friends, and she strives to ensure that learning and growing in soccer is an exciting and enjoyable experience.
Johanna’s coaching expertise has been recognized through notable achievements, including leading the Varsity Boys TAPPS Division II team at Bishop Dunne to a top 8 ranking in the state in 2023. In 2022, she guided the Co-Ed Middle School team at The Highlands to a top 2 ranking in the district.
If you’re looking for a dedicated coach who will not only develop your child’s soccer skills but also foster their love for the game in a positive and supportive environment, Johanna would be delighted to have an opportunity to be a part of your child’s soccer journey. Get in touch with her today to learn more about the Junior Academy program and how your child can benefit from her expertise and guidance.
